The video game is based on the world-famous series Bakugan Battle Brawlers. The aim of the game is to create a character and take it to the Ultimate Battle Tournament. Between the battles You can purchase new Bakugans and G-Power cards, upgrade Your Bakugans.
The setup is not bad, though You can buy only a limited number of Bakugans. Depending upon the types of cards and battlefields, one Bakugan may have better bonuses than another, but it is really hard to take advantage of this. Much better is to upgrade Bakugans that You already have rather than to buy a new set for each tournament.
The throwing process is one of the most interesting parts of the game. After throwing your Bakugan into the playing field, other players try to knock it off-course while you try to roll your creature into pick-ups on the field to make it stronger for the current match. After that, you can use any of the three Ability cards you've previously selected to improve your Bakugan's G-Power, and then you play one of three mini-games to further G-Power increase of Your creature.
In the end Bakugan with more G-Power hits the other Bakugan and the round is over. I believe that the game would have been more exciting if you threw your Bakugan, used an Ability card and then played a mini-game simultaneously with the fight of Your Bakugan because your actions directly impacted their battle. Instead, the preparations for the battle are much longer than the actual fight. There aren't even multiple rounds where they trade!
The conclusion is the following: too many things are done on paper, there are too many preparations for each fight and too little time is left for the actual fight.
Today's video game can’t serve as the substitute for the real one! |
